Authenticity: All submitted pictures are to be your own work, and the law of copyright applies at all time.
Originality: In order to keep the exhibition fresh and vibrant, pictures should not have been exhibitted before.
Frames: Frames should be of reasonable quality, clean, with no chipping, or scratching and have close mitre joints, glued, pinned or screwed and of suitable strength for the size.
Hanging Fittings: The small serrated hangers or the punctured card hanger on commercial "photo" frames are not acceptable. Screw eyes are usually the best (with or without rings). Generally screw eyes should be positioned about a quarter of the height from the top, but not less than 2". This allows some elasticity in the cord or wire but prevents the picture from tilting forward too much.
Cord/wire: Should be of suitable strength for the picture size and weight. Ordinary string is prone to ageing and eventually snapping. Nylon cord or picture wire is best. Be sure that the cord is securely fastened to the screw eyes, preferably taping the ends back with masking tape or similar in order to prevent injury from wire ends. Cord should be quite taut, so that no less than 1.5" below the top of the frame remains to cover the height of the hook.
Mounts: Should be clean, free of pencil marks (excepting mount lines in pencil) and with clean-cut edges and corners.
Glass: Ensure that both sides of the glass are clean and free of fingerprints.
Labelling: Please use clear block capitals. Ensure that the title is exactly the same as submitted on the entry form. Try to use short titles, this helps regarding space when writing the title cards. Use only the NSAS title cards and position these on the bottom right hand corner of the picture. Check your spelling.
Display: The hanging committee will decide on where pictures are to be displayed. Do not hang your own pictures.
Submission Forms: Use clear block capitals at all times, and ensure that these are submitted to NSA secratary by the announced deadline.
Removal of pictures from exhibition: Do not remove pictures from the displays before the end of the exhibition.
